Originally established in
February 1996 as Environmental Engineering Scotland Ltd. The
company
was formed with 2 aims in mind, firstly to build
upon the marine workboat hire sector and secondly
to
continue working with existing customers on our commercial
ventilation and air conditioning contracts. |

Our first marine contract was
awarded in July 1996 by Rassmusen offshore, the contract
included running crew boats to their offshore platform 'Polyconcorde'
and the supply of up to 10 riggers and personnel onboard to
carry out maintenance and repairs throughout the rig. A
further larger contract was awarded shortly there after by
Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd. This contract initially
involved the supply of one rescue boat and a small crew
transfer vessel however expanded to provide transportation
of all personnel together with materials to both the North
and South legs of the Forth Road Bridge, it soon became
clear to both parties that additional vessels would be
required and so we temporarily ramped up our fleet expansion
program. This resulted in the acquisition of a further 6
vessels (of various sizes and power) for the contract and
the purchase of a semi-multipurpose vessel; The Bagheera.
The contract lasted for a total of 78 weeks during which we
gained considerable valuable and practical Marine
Construction experience. |

Upon completion we sold the 6
vessels we had temporarily acquired and The Bagheera was
placed on long term charter with Hydro Seafood's, we then
acquired our second semi multipurpose vessel; The Legabion.
This came from France requiring a refit and so upon
successful completion of this she worked on the UK's west
coast for 3 months upon which we sold her and acquired our
first true multipurpose vessel; The Sheerkhan. Shortly
thereafter in November 2000 we acquired our 3rd vessel; The
tug Akela and then our 4th vessel; The Tabriki arrived early
in 2001. |

By then we had a wide and varied
fleet of vessels and so we decided to attend and promote our
business at Seawork 2001, it was during this period that it
became clear to us that the name Environmental Engineering
did not truly reflect the nature of what had by then become
our core business and so we changed our name to MarineCo UK
Ltd late in 2001 in order to better reflect this. |

In early 2002 we began a further appraisal of our fleet. Our
customers needs and requirements had increased steadily over
the years and we were conscious of the need for greater
power and versatility and so embarked upon consolidating and
'future proofing' our fleet, in doing so we replaced all of
our legacy fleet i.e. disposing of The Bagheera and acquiring the Marineco Baloo
in her place, disposing of The Sheerkhan and acquiring the
Marineco Seeonee together with the disposal of the Akela and
replacing it with the Marineco Raksha, and it is the latter
together with the Marineco Tabriki that has now become the
backbone of our present fleet. |
